Indigenous Youth and the Well-Being of Indigenous Peoples in Colombia:

A conversation with Loreiny Morán, young leader of the Awá people.

Indigenous youth in Colombia face numerous challenges, such as discrimination, marginalization, limited access to educational and employment opportunities, and the need to balance contemporary life with their ancestral traditions. Indigenous youth's political participation and leadership are key to transforming these challenging conditions and progressing towards societies of well-being for all people.

We will hear from Loreiny Morán, an Indigenous leader from the Awa People of Ricaurte, Nariño, Colombia. Her perspective and experience offer valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities facing Indigenous youth. This event is part of the Mirtha Colón Permanent Seminar, a space dedicated to promoting constructive dialogue and collective action to combat racial and ethnic discrimination and build a more just and equitable future.

When: Wednesday, August 21, 2024

Time: 12:00 p.m. ET, 11:00 a.m. CT, 9:00 a.m. PT

The conversation will take place in Spanish with interpretation into English.
