Chicago, IL – Alianza Americas is proud to announce the appointment of Dulce Guzmán as its new Executive Director, effective September 1st. This decision marks a significant milestone in the organization's history as Guzmán transitions from a former intern to the leader of the nation’s only network of Latin American and Caribbean immigrant-led and immigrant-serving organizations in the United States.

"Dulce’s journey with Alianza Americas is a testament to our commitment to nurturing emerging leaders who deeply understand the challenges faced by our communities," said Oscar Chacon, co-founder and previous Executive Director of Alianza Americas. "Her leadership, dedication, and vision will undoubtedly propel our movement forward, creating lasting change for immigrant communities across the Americas."

Guzmán’s career in social justice began in 2012 when the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program was announced. As a DACA recipient herself, Dulce dedicated her early career to leading community education campaigns and engaging immigrant youth to get involved locally. Over the years, she has developed into a leader with a profound understanding of the issues impacting immigrant communities both in the United States and their countries of origin. Guzmán has spearheaded numerous initiatives at Alianza Americas, including raising over $7 million in funding for member organizations and leading campaigns that supported community organizations in Central America.

"I'm honored to step into this role at such a pivotal time for our organization and the broader immigrant rights movement," said Dulce Guzmán. "Alianza Americas has always believed in investing in future leaders, and I am a product of that commitment. I look forward to building on our collective successes and advancing our mission of achieving social, racial, and economic justice for all."

“As we celebrate this milestone, we also extend our deepest gratitude to Oscar Chacon, who has led Alianza Americas with unwavering dedication for the past 20 years. His leadership and vision have been instrumental in building the strong foundation we stand today. We honor his legacy as we welcome Dulce Guzmán, who embodies the spirit and values of our organization, to lead us into a new chapter of growth and impact." said Guadalupe de la Cruz, Alianza Americas Board Chair.

Under Guzmán’s leadership, Alianza Americas is poised to experience a new chapter of growth and impact. Her vision and dedication are expected to bring renewed energy and focus to our work, instilling a sense of hope and optimism as we continue to advocate for the rights and dignity of immigrant communities.

If you have any questions about this announcement, please contact Guadalupe de la Cruz or Abel Nuñez.
