Alianza Americas condemns the dangerous chaos that the Trump administration and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. are inflicting on our nation's public health infrastructure. The firing of the CDC director, Susan Monarez, and systematic undermining of scientific bodies such as the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) represent a reckless abandonment of science-based public health policy. RFK Jr.'s well-documented history of promoting anti-vaccine conspiracy theories and other health misinformation makes him uniquely unfit to lead HHS at a time when Latino communities and immigrants already face devastating health disparities and barriers to care. Kennedy must step down or be removed, for the health of the nation.
The so-called "Make America Healthy Again" movement is built on a web of lies and pseudoscience that will cause immeasurable harm to the very communities we serve. Immigrants and communities of color, who already experience disproportionate rates of preventable diseases and limited healthcare access, will bear the brunt of these dangerous policies. By attacking evidence-based immunization programs, nutrition guidelines, and infectious disease prevention efforts, this administration is weaponizing public health against the most vulnerable populations while masquerading destructive ideology as health advocacy.
This assault on public health expertise is part of the broader Trump administration agenda to dismantle systems that protect and support immigrant and working-class communities.Aliaza Americas calls on its members, allies, and all people of conscience to reject this administration's health misinformation and instead promote trustworthy, science-based recommendations from legitimate public health experts. Our communities' lives depend on our collective commitment to evidence-based practices around immunizations, nutrition, infectious disease prevention, and mental health—not the conspiracy theories and political vendettas that now guide federal health policy.
