CBP Home App

A readaption of the CBP One app allows people and businesses to access various CBP services.

What is it?

In March, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced the CBP Home application. A readaption of the CBP One app allows people and businesses to access various CBP services. There has been an added section titled “Intent to Depart”, where undocumented immigrants can report their intention to leave the United States. According to the CBP, reporting the intention to leave the U.S. could potentially have fewer negative consequences.

What is included in the CBP Home App?

I-94: Apply for and pay for an I-94 up to seven days before arriving in the United States.

Inspection appointments: Request inspections for perishable cargo entering the United States.

Border wait times: Check wait times at the border crossings.

Bus Manifest: Submit a manifest for bus operators.

Intent to Depart: Explained below.

Intent to Depart:

  • What does this mean?

This feature was added to comply with President Trump's Executive Order 14159, "Protecting the American People Against Invasion," by creating a process for individuals to communicate their departure plans with CBP. It will allow CBP to have a record of your photo and personal information. Personal information includes name, birth date, country of citizenship, and country of destination.

  • Are there consequences for not reporting?

It is unclear. Remember that individuals do not go through Immigration when leaving the U.S. It is unnecessary to document a departure because there will always be a stamp to prove that the person entered another country.
