Heat stroke occurs when the body overheats and cannot adequately cool down. In the United States, 1,200 Hispanic workers die each year due to high temperatures. The most vulnerable to extreme heat are those who work in high-temperature environments, both outdoors and indoors, older adults, children, and those with chronic illnesses or disabilities.
