DELEGATION

August 2018

This delegation was organized by Alianza Americas, our  member organization Centro Presente, the Lawyers Committee For Civil Rights and Economic Justice, and Congressional Representative James McGovern (D-MA) and Mayor Joseph Curtatone of Sommerville, MA.

We visited San Pedro Sula, Honduras to get to know the work of Father Melo with Radio Progreso and ERIC (“Equipo de Reflexión, Investigación y Comunicación”). We spoke with  families of detained migrants in the U.S. border. Additionally, a meeting was held in Tegucigalpa to analyze and exchange information with allies and human rights organizations.

The visit to El Salvador centered on violence, inequality and internal forced migration through encounters with civil organizations and academia. One-on-one meetings were also held with two presidential candidates.
